How About Some Cheese With That Whine?

Here’s a blog entry I borrowed from the “God Is For Suckers”blog. It’s a melodramatic complaint by an atheist who had to suffer the horrors of being treated for some serious medical problems in a Catholic-run hospital. It’s been excerpted by me because most of her rant is repetitive and boring. My points are in bold type.

“I’m an atheist, so BACK OFF!”
By Stardust

I promised you some stories from my two-week-long incarceration in a lunatic asylum (catholic hospital).

I think I hear violins playing.

The physical pain and illness I was feeling was nothing in comparison to having to hear the various roommates of mine that came and went having communion every f****** day and cry in their beds for hours afterwards. The god representatives and religious visits did absolutely no good for them at all, and actually made them WORSE.

…Droned out the mumbo-jumbo incantations to the great sky daddy, the sad and sorrowful prayer for the sick and by the time it was over she had to tell her friend she was in dire pain, had to go and was calling for morphine and for the nurse to come comfort her…The god incantations seemed to do much more harm than good.

CONTRADICTION ALERT: I thought all atheists believed prayer was useless and ineffective, so how could prayer make the patients’ conditions worse?

…I lay there in pain while Drs. Larry, Moe, Curly, Shemp, and Joe tried to figure out where to start with me since I had a variety of problems. Pulmonary edema, irregular heartbeat, biliary dyskenesia of the gallbladder, ulcers.

Well, surprisingly enough, the 4 Stooges were actually able to diagnose her quite accurately, and it looks like she was quite a mess! You think she might have had a sliver of gratitude that they were able to do so? Fat Chance!

…I needed surgery, but they needed to get other things figured out so they would not be responsible for killing me on the operating table.

Imagine that! Christian doctors wanting to help her survive. Who’d a thunk it?

But like I said, those problems were just a puzzle that doctors needed to use science and their education to figure out and fix.

Another pearl of wisdom from Captain Obvious.

I had told them in the ER when I was admitted that I HAD NO GOD BELIEFS and to leave me be about it. No sooner I was in my room, before seeing a nurse or a doctor, a chaplain came waltzing in asking about my “spirituality”. I said I was an atheist, I had no god beliefs and she said she would leave some tracts by my bedside and I said “NO THANK YOU, TAKE THEM AWAY”. I explained I did not believe in god and didn’t want to be bothered with it. Does she respect that and respect that I am in great pain and sick? Of course not.

And did “Stardust” respect that her God-believing room mates were in great pain and sick? Of course not.

I had an aunt who never, ever calls me at any other time except when I have been in the hospital called me once again to tell me “god is with me”. I told her if that was true to tell the sick, sadistic bastard to BACK OFF!
I couldn’t understand why my own sister, who means well, but thought we had an agreement not to bring up religion left a text message on my phone the day of surgery, “I am at work praying 4 u”. My husband had my phone so I didn’t see it till a couple days later. But he sent a message back to her after surgery that said “surgery done, she’s in recovery. The Flying Spaghetti Monster was with her”.

This is the kind of magnanimity you can expect from atheists when their believing family members try to show concern. The “maturity” of atheists never ceases to amaze me.

“I am usually a very nice person, and try not to be mean to people…”

Oh yeah, this woman’s rant sure has made a believer out of me! She’s a real sweetheart.

…however, the pain and the added god botherer aggravation turned me into a very militant atheist.

BUNK ALERT: She was a militant atheist when she showed up in the Emergency Room.

I was taken down for a test one day and left on a gurney to wait in a holding area. There was an older woman there waiting for her husband to have a test done. She said to me “so what’s your problem?” I said, “I don’t feel like talking.” She said, “did you have surgery?” I told her “I don’t talk to strangers about my business, please leave me alone.” She said, “My husband had a blah, blah blah, and I had a stroke back in January, and I have arthritis and blah, blah, blah, waa, waa, waa….” I interrupted and told her that I was sorry to hear that but I really didn’t want to hear it. She then got close to me and said “trust in the Lord, he is there for you” and I said “I AM AN ATHEIST, THERE IS NO GOD” and she backed up as if I had spit fire at her. LOL! It was great.

There you have it, Ladies and gentlemen. Atheist “compassion” in all its glory. A little old lady wanted to talk for a minute, and this “compassionate” atheist didn’t want to give her the time of day. Yet she exulted in insulting this old woman. I guess Stardust’s “pain and suffering” didn’t keep her from showing this poor old lady the nasty truth about atheism, did it?

There was an incident even worse than the frustrating god representatives and godly roommates… all of a sudden a shriek came from another room “ALLAH AKBAR! durkadurkadurkaalalalalalalala and a bunch of chanting in what sounded like Arabic… I was delirious with pain med and pain itself so everything was quite surreal….Turns out what happened was that an old muslim man had died and I guess it is normal tradition to bellow to their sky daddy like Klingons when a loved one dies. Holy f***, that sounded like they were screaming out war cries of the start of some kind of violence! It would not be allowed if it were not for “religious tolerance”.

“Religious tolerance” must sound dirty to hard-core atheists, despite their self-professed phoney-baloney image of open-mindedness.

I should have done this sooner, but I looked up the “Mission Statement” of that hospital and of several hospitals in our area and all are affiliated with some kind of mythology cult…As atheists, I suggest that before an illness strikes, check out the hospitals in your area and find one that you can be comfortable in because when it’s really religious it causes more stress, uncomfortableness and frustration.

Forget about whether the specialists for certain medical conditions might be believers… your personal “comfort” is far more important than choosing the most qualified doctor.

It’s sad that these delusional patients who were my roommates could not see that talking with their friends made them feel better. Watching television made them feel better and took their minds off their problems…Watching a sitcom did far more for me than communion did for the god believers. Religion made them SICKER and more full of self-pity. But it seems like many of them like and even thrive on that masochistic part of xianity.

That’s hilarious, because Stardust’s complaint-filled rant is dripping with self-pity. And her atheism made her difficult to deal with as well.

Stardust showed up at that Catholic hospital in bad shape, and their skilled personnel not only took care of her serious medical problems, but they put up with her griping, complaints, and insults like the true professionals they were. It’s really, really sad to see that Stardust doesn’t show a dime’s worth of gratitude for all their hard work and skill. She doesn’t give a tinker’s damn about all that hospital did for her, in spite of her nasty, ungrateful attitude towards the healthcare professionals she came into contact with. That’s what it’s truly like to be a militant atheist: intolerant, impatient, and uncaring, even in extraordinary circumstances.

Makes you want to run out and join the atheist crowd, doesn’t it?

Did I say that? Where? It's really something when you god botherers asshats make crap up as you go along, even so far as putting words in the mouths of people you don't even know? Too cowardly to leave a comment at our site, amongst my friends who know me?

Of course I am thankful to the doctors who finally figured out my critical problems after two weeks two long. I am thankful mostly to ONE critical care specialist who I called in and he got things taken care of, finally after two weeks of agony, and pain that made me a totally other person. That was the point of my post, and you capitalize on it for your damn blog. Typical "loving" and "kind" religious folks, you god believers are.

The hospital I went to was awful. I will not be going back to that hospital because they took too long, were more concerned with my spirituality than solving my medical condition and I could have DIED. Most of the doctors they hire on staff are barely competent. The religious pushiness was unbearable at times. That is a whole other “rant”.

People who know me know that I meant "militant" in a funny way. Unlike the religious folks who love to wallow in self pity, I choose to take my experiences and make a funny story out of it. It wasn't funny at the time. I was sick, I was suffering and the religious folks had zero compassion, zero understanding and little tolerance for this atheist. I am sorry that in my pain that I became someone else. You capitalized on my illness and story for your own selfishness. Like I said, typical xian heartless asshat with zero sense of humor.

'Stardust's' entire rant didn't contain one word of thanks for anybody that worked on her. You can read her comments yourself, as her story was linked in my article.

As far as being too cowardly to leave comments on god4suckers.com-- the only time I ever left a comment on that site I was secretly banned and given no reason why.

Of course I am thankful to the doctors who finally figured out my critical problems after two weeks two long. [**Mea Culpa**] I am thankful mostly to ONE critical care specialist who I called in and he got things taken care of, finally after two weeks of agony, and pain that made me a totally other person.

Then she should have mentioned it. I'm not happy that she went through that medical nightmare. But I'm convinced that the pain didn't make her 'another person'. It just amplified the person she is.

Now 'Stardust' is an expert on medical competency, yet she doesn't seem smart enough to know that she could have REFUSED treatment, demanded her release, and left that facility for somewhere else.

Unlike the religious folks who love to wallow in self pity, I choose to take my experiences and make a funny story out of it.

'Stardust' is still the one wallowing in self pity. And as far as being funny... atheists have one bizarre sense of humor.

It wasn't funny at the time. I was sick, I was suffering and the religious folks had zero compassion, zero understanding and little tolerance for this atheist.

I'm certain the healthcare professionals at that hospital had more compassion for 'Stardust' than she had for the old woman she attacked, when that little lady just tried to talk to her, and committed the atrocity of mentioning God in poor little Stardust's presence.

I am sorry that in my pain that I became someone else. You capitalized on my illness and story for your own selfishness. Like I said, typical xian heartless asshat with zero sense of humor.

I have a wonderful sense of humor. 'Stardust' is just a lousy comedian, as are most atheists. She's also a banal name-caller. As far as being "heartless"... just read "Stardust's" obscenity-spiked rant again, and you tell me who's the angry, intolerant person here.

I work alongside nirses and technologists all the time, and I can assure you, 'Stardust' is the kind of patient that makes many fine healthcare professionals leave the business and seek other careers.

Trolls do not get "secretly" banned at Gifs.
Instead, their comments are ridiculed for everyone to see until they continue to preach. And even then they are given public warning.

You're a liar. I made a comment on the G.I.F.S. website in which I called BS on one of your articles, and was immediately attacked at your website by several of your pit bulls. When I attempted to respond, I was umable to leave any comments. No warning was given, it just happened.

Others on various Christian blogs have reported the same treatment from your website.

The fact is, it is a commonly used tactic by people like yourselves to secretly ban people from your sites, and then post comments ridiculing the believer for not responding, when in fact they couldn't.

I may have been born in the morning, but it wasn't THIS morning.

Yo brownshi(r)t,
1. It's not my site.
2. Look through the post comments sections and you will see for yourself that what I described is true. Of course, if you are unable to figure out how to post a comment, it merely shows your level of ignorance.
3. You are a liar by omitting portions of Stardust's comments so as to promote your false statements.

Grow up.

You're still a liar. I tried 3 times on separate occasions and was unable to respond. I contacted the GIFS webmaster and got no reply.I know that people like you labor under the delusion that people like me are functional retards, but the fact is, I've been working with computers since you were in diapers, Junior. I know of which I speak.

I explained in my article that I had abbreviated Stardust's rant, and had the article linked. You people use excerpts all the time when you're bagging on Christians. By your line of reasoning, that makes you people liars.

YOU need to grow up, son. Come back here some time when you learn how to think a little better. In the meantime, I'll be sure to harvest GIFS for blatant stupidity from time to time, as you people provide people like me with lots of red meat.

Ta-ta!

It would appear that the standard belief that atheists are humorless, self-righteous asshats is in no danger of being disproven anytime soon.

Because it is a fact. Thanks Stardust and 666 for reinforcing it.

Cheers!

Always playing the victim, being disrespectful and ungrateful to the people who help them in their time of need, lashing out at even the friendliest people just because they have different beliefs... Isn't atheism just great? :D lol! And they wonder why nobody (except other atheist nutcases) can stand them!
